While reading about grafting techniques of wild species of Cocoa, I had some philosophical thoughts about the entire subject of artificial reproduction; Trees vs. humans, the utilization and manipulation of genetic material, ethics etc. While recognizing the risks, threats and disadvantages, my personal biased opinion mostly supported such manipulations despite their unnatural nature. We are in the middle of a new chapter of the evolution story, a human controlled one. I’m really not sure, but I do hope that both trees and humans will survive it and benefit from it.
